Bulgarian and Romanian Nationals

On the 1st January 2007 Bulgaria & Romania joined the EU, which meant
nationals from these two countries no longer needed to apply for an entry visa to
the UK. These nationals can freely enter the UK, but the UK Border Agency has put
in place restrictions on who can work under a Contract of Service (Pay As You Earn
Employment). A2s do not fall under the Points Based System.

Application for an accession worker card in the United Kingdom for a Bulgarian or Romanian family member of a Bulgarian or Romanian national.
You should complete the BR4 form if you intend to work in the UK and your Bulgarian or Romanian family member holds an Accession worker card.
In order to qualify for an Accession worker card your Bulgarian or Romanian family member must be:
- The holder of an Accession worker card
Note: An Accession worker card will only be issued in respect of a specific job. If you do not have an offer of employment your application will not be approved.
Employment Start Date
You must not start work until you receive your Accession worker card. If you are prosecuted and convicted of working without an Accession worker card you could face imprisonment for up to 3 months or a fixed penalty of £1000.
