Section 8
Understanding good character

THIS SECTION COVERS GOOD CHARACTER AND IF ANY OF THESE APPLY, YOU MUST DISCLOSE THEM. FAILURE TO DISCLOSE, THE APPLICATION COULD BE REFUSED

Now select below one by one in their order and carefully read each section
  • What is a criminal conviction?

This is where a court has found you being guilty of an offence and this includes speeding offenses. Any offence ‘Spent’ or ‘Unspent’ should be disclosed.

Depending on the laws of the country the offence the offence is committed in, Unspent means you have yet to serve the sentence. In the UK a speeding offence is generally 3 years, after 3 years the offence becomes 'Spent'.

  • Will I need to provide a Police certificate?

The job you are applying for under MCB does not require a Police certificate to meet the entry visa guidelines.

Because your job role is likely to work with children, vulnerable people and the elderly, MCB insists you provide a Police certificate/report. Once in the UK, you must pass A Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).

  • Will my family need a Police certificate?

If your family members plan to work in the UK with children, vulnerable people, the elderly, become a driving instructor etc., they are likely to need one before they can commence work. Whoever employs your family member will provide them guidance.  If you like to k now more about DBS click here but if you are unsure about the rules, contact MCB for guidance.

  • Other activity and history

Below are questions in your visa form we must address as yes or no. If any of the below refers to you, you must contact G4I immediately.

Have you ever been a member of, or given support to, an organisation which has been concerned in terrorism?
