Sponsor Licence Training

Sponsor Licence Training

If you are a UK organisation that holds a UK sponsor licence or requires to hold a sponsor licence, are you 100% confident that the staff within your

organisation are up to speed when dealing with employment and immigration compliance and preventing illegal employment?

Regardless of your structure, it is a legal requirement to have in place a system that prevents illegal working.

Your system can be paper-based, electronic or a combination of both.

If your sponsor licence is revoked, you cannot sponsor any workers for at least 12 months.

Our bespoke training programmes will help prevent your sponsor licence from being revoked.

We can provide bespoke training even if you fall under one of these types:

  • Single property

We operate only one business from one location and all
    people responsible for
    recruiting staff are
    employed here

If you are a business and only have one property, this makes training for you mush easier.

Before any training is carried out, we will send you a form to complete, this form will ask key questions that include:

    • Total people needing training
    • Their job roles and responsibilities
    • Any immigration experience
    • Hold a current sponsor licence or require one
    • Which Tier 2 and Tier 5 people the business would like to sponsor
    • Business departments
    • Who are the recruitment officers or people responsible for interviewing and hiring staff
    • Current recruitment practices in place
    • Type of HR infrastructure in place
    • We provide an overview of the training program (see image below) and you will inform us which areas you would like us to focus the training on, this will ensure the training we provide covers in-depth the training you need.

If you indicate that the staff that needs training are at different levels on their immigration knowledge, we will tailor our training accordingly.

At the end of the training, we will ask your staff 20 questions, we will advise them throughout the training which are likely to feature in the test, this way you can gauge how much knowledge your staff gained from the training as people in general have different levels of learning and if you feel certain staff need further training, we can discuss this.

    Head office & branches control

We operate from a head office and have additional branches under our control and all employees filing is centrally managed
    by head office HR

When you operate multiple properties which are part of your limited business this can add additional issues that must be overcome to ensure your sponsor licence does not become revoked.

This training package is where the business has confirmed all branches are centrally controlled by Head Office for all employment processes.

When you have multiple properties (properties are known as branches), under one sponsor licence, all it takes is one branch to fail a Home Office inspection and your sponsor licence for all properties can be B-Rated, Suspended and then Revoked.

How we carry out the training will all depend on the following:

    • Total people that need training
    • Where these people are based
    • Their role in the recruitment process
    • Are these people able to come to one location for their training or you prefer to have training in multiple locations
    • Their level of immigration knowledge

When we carry out this training, we will spend more time on section 4 (business infrastructure) and discuss how you should manage head office and branches including tips on what you should avoid and if you are ever audited by Home Office compliance officers you will know how to explain to them how you manage your sponsor licence.

    Head office & branches non-control

We operate from a head office and have additional branches or properties, but the HR compliance is not controlled by our head office

When you operate multiple properties which are part of your limited business this can add additional issues that must be overcome to ensure your sponsor licence does not become revoked.

This training package is where the business has confirmed all branches are not centrally controlled by Head Office for all employment processes.

When you have multiple properties (properties are known as branches), under one sponsor licence, all it takes is one branch to fail a Home Office inspection and your sponsor licence for all properties can be B-Rated, Suspended and then Revoked.
    • How we carry out the training will all depend on the following:
    • Total people that need training
    • Where these people are based
    • Their role in the recruitment process
    • Are these people able to come to one location for their training or you prefer to have training in multiple locations
    • Their level of immigration knowledge
    • Who is responsible per branch for the recruitment cycle.
When we carry out this training, we will spend more time on section 4 (business infrastructure) and discuss how you should manage head office and branches including tips on what you should avoid, tips to improve how you manage and control employees and business data so if you are ever audited by the Home Office compliance officers you will know how to explain to them how you manage your sponsor licence.

    Group operation control

We operate a number of trading entities and we have or want a Head Office to centrally
    control all HR compliance

When you operate multiple business entities and you want a number of limited business under one sponsor licence, this is a much more complex set up and much more risk of having the sponsor licence revoked so, the training will be based on an in depth survey of the business set up, who does what, HR infrastructure and people involved in the entire recruitment cycle.

When you have multiple trading entities the Home Office will permit a group sponsor licence so you could have as many trading entities as you like, but one property must be nominated as the Head Office and the others simply are branches of the Head Office. You would be expected to demonstrate a 'Link' between each entity which is normally a director registered to each entity on Companies House.

If only one property fails an Home Office inspection then your sponsor licence is at risk of being revoked which means all trading entities will lose the benefit of sponsoring non-EEA nationals. If this is a concern to you, look further down this page at 'Independent entities' as an alternative solution.

All it takes is one branch to fail a Home Office inspection and your sponsor licence for all properties can be B-Rated, Suspended and then Revoked.

How we carry out the training will all depend on the following:
    • Total people that need training
    • Where these people are based
    • Their role in the recruitment process
    • Which business entity they are employed under
    • Would you prefer a group training or training per trading entity
    • Their level of immigration knowledge
    • Do all trading entities use the same HR system to manage their work force and do each trading entity collate and centrally manage employees for the group
When we carry out this training, we will spend more time on section 4 (business infrastructure) and discuss how you should manage Head Office, branches and other trading entities including tips on what you should avoid and if ever audited by Home Office compliance officers you will know how to explain to them how you manage your properties.

    Independent entities

We operate a number of trading entities and we do not want them under one sponsor licence and would prefer multiple sponsor licences

If your business has multiple trading entities and you cannot afford to risk losing the ability to sponsor non-EEA nationals, we can then provide training independently to each location or as a group.

Whether you have a sponsor licence now or you plan to apply for one per trading entity, we can train all key people around your business needs.

As each trading entity has or will have their own sponsor licence. Under this arrangement they will be treated no differently to a 'Single Property' training but with one difference; we can provide different entities who are part of the same group, group training, our pre-training assessment form will identify who will be trained and under which trading entity.

We will also ascertain the following:
    • Total people that need training
    • Where these people are based
    • Their role in the recruitment process
    • Which business entity they are employed under
    • Would you prefer a group training or training per trading entity
    • Their level of immigration knowledge
    • Do all trading entities use the same HR system to manage their work force and does each trading entity collate and centrally manage employees for the group.
The above is a guide and further guidance will be provided if you make an enquiry about this service.
